Bead rollers for sheet metal forming

A bead roller is used to form reinforcing beads, profiles, steps, flanges and decorative lines in sheet metal. It is a practical machine for automotive restoration, HVAC work, panel fabrication and general metalworking where controlled shaping and added rigidity are needed.

How to choose the right bead roller

Start with the sheet thickness you need to form. Smaller manual machines are suitable for light sheet metal and occasional workshop use, while electric and heavy-duty bead rollers are better for repeated work, larger panels and thicker material.

Throat depth is equally important. A deeper throat gives more reach toward the centre of the panel, which is useful for larger body panels, covers, ducts and restoration parts. If you work mainly near sheet edges, a compact model may be enough; for larger panels, consider 460 mm or 620 mm reach.

Also consider the drive type. Manual bead rollers are simple and compact, while electric models help keep feed speed steady and leave both hands free to guide the workpiece. Foot pedal operation is especially useful when accuracy and repeatability matter.

Rolls, stands and motor options

The end result depends strongly on the roller set. Available accessories include profile rollers, crimping rollers, cutting rolls, shearing roll sets and model-specific roller pairs for different bead shapes and step profiles.

A stand improves working position and stability, especially when forming larger sheets. Some models can also be equipped with a feed motor, which makes operation smoother and more consistent during repeated work.
